Raytheon Anschütz opens in Rio de Janeiro

Headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Raytheon Anschuetz do Brasil will provide Brazilian shipyards and shipowners with local know-how in maritime system integration and after sales services.

This includes supply and systems integration for Raytheon Anschütz navigation components such as gyro compasses, autopilots and steering systems, Radars, ECDIS, and complete integrated bridge systems. For offshore platforms, Raytheon Anschuetz do Brasil can offer tailored and surveillance and security solutions on a commercial-off-the-shelf basis.

“With the opening of Raytheon Anschuetz do Brasil, we do an important step to secure best possible local customer support in this region, with a particular focus on the shipbuilding and offshore industry”, says Paul Robbe, who will lead the new company as Managing Director. “With our supply and through our offered services, we can certainly help shipyards and shipowners to fulfill their requirements for local content.”

From the start, Raytheon Anschuetz do Brasil will guide Brazilian customers closely from specification to realization. Apart from offering technical advice and pre-sale consultancy regarding IMO recommendations, class requirements and operational needs, the new company will handle construction of consoles, installation of equipment and setting to work, and provide local after sales service support. Simultaneously, Raytheon Anschuetz do Brasil will implement structures that allow providing navigation training for the offshore market and commercial shipping industry.

Over the next years, Raytheon Anschütz plans additional investment to strengthen know-how and infrastructure of the Brazilian subsidiary to make Raytheon Anschuetz do Brazil the competence center for navigation and maritime systems integration in South America.

“We will not only establish maker’s know-how in navigation system technology in Brazil, but also strive for a strong network of specially trained engineers who take care of our wide range of navigation systems alongside the whole Brazilian coastline. Of course, all of our engineers will benefit from the direct access to the maker’s know-how of Raytheon Anschütz.”, Paul Robbe explains.

The new subsidiary is a further step on Raytheon Anschütz’ path to follow the markets and customer demands: Since 2006, Raytheon Anschütz Shanghai takes care of shipbuilding in China, and since 2009 Raytheon Anschuetz Singapore offers high level of service and sales support for the shipping industry in Southeast Asia. Beginning of 2012 the subsidiary in San Diego, USA, was opened to serve the North American shipping industry with competent advice and tailor-made navigation solutions.

Raytheon Anschütz navigation systems are installed on more than 30,000 ships worldwide, making the company to a leader in bridge and navigation systems supply. In Brazil, Raytheon Anschütz is widely known from the supply of Standard 22 gyro compasses, which nowadays are a standard solution for offshore operating vessels.
