Environmental Management System
Raytheon Anschütz maintains an environmental management system, which is certified according the international standards of ISO 14001:2009 - a proof of our commitment and our efforts for environmental protection. Our processes and products are continuously optimized to achieve a sustainable reduction of energy use and emissions in daily working life. A defined task list monitors all processes with regard to a more efficient handling of water, electricity and waste.
Our product development strives to integrate innovative functions – such as the NautoPilot 5000 with its ECO-Mode or a Voyage Efficiency Monitor on Conning – to contribute to reduced fuel consumption and hence increase energy efficiency – helping shipping to go even greener.
Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals
REACH is the abbreviation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. One of the requirements of REACH is that manufacturers and importers have a duty to register, for each legal entity, substances on their own, or in preparations that they produce or import in quantities over 1 tonne per year (per manufacturer/importer), unless the substance is exempt from registration.

Reduction of Hazardous Substances
To contribute to the protection of health and environment, regulations concerning the reduction of hazardous substances (RoHS) have been made. These regulations limit the use of substances such as lead, chrome, cadmium and mercury in defined electronic devices. As a manufacturer of navigation systems, the products of Raytheon Anschütz are not affected by the regulation. Nevertheless, most of the own and third party products sold by Raytheon Anschütz already comply with this regulation. As an example, the Anschütz gyro compasses have operated without the use of mercury for more than 100 years. Green passports are available on request.
Occupational Safety Policy
In addition to Environmental Protection policies, Raytheon Anschütz regards occupational health and safety as a primary corporate and social objective. Our aims are to prevent, by all the means at our disposal, accidents at work, work-related illnesses and work-related health hazards, and to provide effective first-aid care. Our efforts to maintain health of all our employees are certified according to OHSAS 18001:2007.
